Crackers

I double dog dare any of you to raise a toddler without a serious supply of crackers. I don’t think I’ve snapped a photo of my ALI-gator lately without one in her hand.
When we travel, we have to pack a large supply of healthy snacks and plan accordingly if we are going to eat out to ensure there are baby toddler friendly options for her - which has been such a wonderful thing for all of us! We have been forced to look at what we were putting into our own bodies since Aliyah would eat off our plates.
She is an amazing little eater and on that note, it feels like she is always eating - breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack…. and in between all of that - crackers, crackers, crackers.
Chopsticks
So now that we’re stocking our cabinets with easy to munch items like freeze dried apple slices and bananas & multigrain crackers and cheerios, I’m on the hunt for other healthy options. What’s your family’s favorite snack to take along?

Wheelbarrow Rides

I remember all sorts of rides my brother and I would enjoy with our parents when we were little: horsey rides, piggyback rides, crab walk rides, rides on the top of my dad's feet, rides on the top of his shoulders, flying burrito brother rides with my mom, bike rides, and wagon rides.
Aliyah loved when her Grammy took her for her first wheelbarrow ride! She didn't want to stop, so dad took a turn too!

Dear Sweet Girl...

Last night I walked into our kitchen to find your father holding you close to him with tears in his eyes. He looked up at me and said “It just hit me that she’s going to get married one day” and then he carried you off to rock you before bedtime.
It’s amazing the things we know - and yet, still get knocked down by. One day we will watch you walk into your very first classroom with a brand new backpack. One day we will hold our hearts in our throats as you drive away in your first car. One day you will tell us you are in love.
For now, we try to savor the way your breathing slows as you drift off to sleep on our shoulder or the funny faces you give us when you  know we’ve caught you doing something you’re not supposed to do. We’ll let the sweet way you roll “mama” and “dada” off your tongue ring in our ears - but I know we’ll just keep getting bowled over. Knocked down by the fury of our love and reality.

New Orleans

We are back in New Orleans visiting, Bear (Tyler's grandfather). He doesn't have internet at the house so there have been only a few short times we have been able to check emails, etc... which has been pretty nice actually. It's hot here, but not as hot as it has been in Kansas! Just a few more days left before we head home and head back to reality. It has been a great vacation and I will post more next week! STAY COOL...
